Corry Carter-Irvin inducted into Elgin Sports Hall Of Fame
Corry Irvin, a 1992 graduate of Larkin High, is nominated for basketball. Larkin's all-time leading scorer in girls basketball (1,142 points) until 2008, Carter was a two-time All-Upstate Eight Conference selection and was the Courier News co-Player of the Year in 1992. She earned a scholarship to Fresno State University where she played in 107 games in her four-year career and earned All-Western Athletic Conference honorable mention honors her senior year. Corry finished her career No. 10 on Fresno's all-time field goal list (360), No. 9 in rebounding (510), and No. 5 in blocked shots (55). She was the head girls' basketball coach at Whitney Young High School in Chicago and now head women’s coach at Saint Xavier University (SXU).
